Crohn's disease

We are a leading medical center for the diagnosis and treatment of Crohn's disease as an autoimmune disease.

What is Crohn's disease?

Crohn's disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the digestive system and can involve any part of the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus.

As with any autoimmune disease, an attack occurs from the patient's immune system to the intestinal mucosa, causing inflammation that causes abdominal pain.

It is an idiopathic disease, meaning its cause is unknown. But it has one very clear symptom: patients with Crohn's disease go to the bathroom many times a day, at least three times and up to ten times during acute phases.

The disease presents outbreaks of greater incidence, especially in spring and autumn.

Causes of Crohn's disease

At our biological medicine clinic , we begin by addressing the root cause of the diagnosis. It is essential to know why the patient is affected, their genetic makeup, and the degree of impairment and aggression of the immune system.

Once all of this is established, an assessment is carried out, leading to a treatment protocol.

Symptoms of Crohn's disease

Patients with Crohn's disease experience inflammation and abdominal pain. They tend to go to the bathroom very frequently, between 3 and 10 times a day, during acute phases. The consistency of their stools is pasty or liquid (often accompanied by a fungal infection, intestinal candidiasis). In addition, there may be intestinal obstruction, sores and ulcers in the affected area or surrounding tissues, nutritional deficiencies, anemia, and arthritis.

Other symptoms that may occur include intestinal obstruction; sores and ulcers in the affected area or surrounding tissues, such as the bladder; tunnels around the anus and rectum, called fistulas; nutritional deficiencies; anemia; arthritis; skin problems; kidney stones, gallstones, or other diseases of the liver and biliary system.

Treatment of Crohn's disease

Based on the diagnosis, a personalized treatment is prescribed . Our primary goal is to reduce the number of bowel movements, eliminate pain, and compact the stool to normalize the intestinal flora imbalance that causes the disease. We will need to restore the flora and eliminate associated intestinal infections (which can be several: candidiasis, geoticum, etc.).

It is also necessary to regulate the immune system, which is key to stopping the processes and, above all, preventing alterations from occurring in other regions of the body that lead to the maintenance of the autoimmune process.
