Sjögren's syndrome

We are a European reference center for the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases.

What is Sjögren's Syndrome?

Lupus is a chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disease that affects collagen. This substance is a protein that binds our connective tissues and holds our body together, being present in the skin, bones and ligaments, tendons and cartilage, adipose and hematopoietic tissue, and organs.

The first symptoms that appear are joint pain accompanied by a high degree of dryness in the mucous membranes.
Sjögren's Syndrome is a common disease that especially affects women, especially after menopause, between 45 and 55 years of age. It is also common for it to appear at the same time as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.
There are two types of Sjögren's Syndrome:

Causes of Sjögren's Syndrome

At Biosalud Day Hospital, we will perform a causal diagnosis to determine the degree of involvement and aggression of the immune system. Afterwards, we will establish the most appropriate personalized biological medicine treatment protocol for each patient with Sjögren's syndrome.

As with other autoimmune diseases, there is no single defined cause; rather, it arises from a confluence of several factors:

Treatment of Sjögren's Syndrome

In addition to the personalized biological medicine treatment that we develop at Biosalud Day Hospital, we add an innovative technique: we develop a hybrid cell by bringing the lymphocyte into contact with the secretion glands that make up the tissue that is being affected.

We will inject this cell into an inguinal node, from where it will send a message to the lymphocytes to stop attacking that tissue. Thus, the patient's immune system regains tolerance.
