Candidiasis

Medical center of reference for the diagnosis and treatment of Candidiasis.

What is Chronic Candidiasis?

Candidiasis is a fungal infection that originates in the intestine due to the growth of the Candida fungus and affects the mucous membranes of the body. The fungus - Candida albicans is the most common variety - resides in our intestine in equilibrium with other bacteria, but an excessive growth, especially after an alteration of the immune system, can break the balance of the intestinal flora with serious health consequences.

Under normal conditions, candida fulfills its metabolic functions by eliminating unabsorbed food remains, fermenting sugars, absorbing heavy metals or maintaining the pH of our blood. However, when it grows in excess, it can develop chronic candidiasis, a disease that even affects our brain.

Symptoms of Candidiasis

01

Chronic Candidiasis, which has its origin in the intestine, manifests itself with a series of unspecific and varied symptoms that mainly affect the intestine: bloating and flatulence, constipation or diarrhea and indigestion and intolerance to certain foods. Candidiasis also affects mood as it can cause depression and irritation, headache or tiredness.

02

Specific symptoms of the other manifestations of Candidiasis are itching and irritation, whitish discharge, rash or redness.

03

Ultimately, intestinal dysbiosis causes the growth of candida, affects intestinal permeability so that different toxic substances secreted by candida pass into the bloodstream, causing reactions in the immune system when it is weakened, and adding over time nutrient deficiencies that are not absorbed properly. Chronic Candidiasis is often associated with people with depressed immune systems, but our lifestyle and diet are also increasing the risk of this disease.

Causes of Candidiasis

Up to 2,000 bacterial species coexist in symbiosis in our intestine, in addition to candida.

The balance between all of them can break down for different reasons.

In some cases Candidiasis is contagious, and among the causes that can lead to a greater proliferation of the fungus candida albicans are:

Diagnosis of Candidiasis

As specialists in Biological Medicine, we are committed to the causal analysis of diseases so, once the overgrowth of bacteria such as candida is confirmed, we will look for the origin of this growth.

The medical tests for diagnosing invasive intestinal candidiasis that have been marketed to date have low specificity and sensitivity, and some are difficult to perform, making them impossible to use in clinical microbiology laboratories.

We have developed specific tests that allow us to know the existence of intestinal infections by pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
We have two types of analysis: the CANDITEST® and CANDITEST PLUS tests with which we can measure fungal and bacterial overgrowth in urine, as well as intestinal permeability or metabolic and mitochondrial alterations caused by Candidiasis, among other parameters.

It is very important in these cases the high rate of toxicity in the tissues of the patient with this pathology. In many cases it is very important to perform a Heavymetalcheck, to analyze the hair for heavy metals; a Mycotoxincheck, to know the mycotoxins accumulated by the molds of the humidity, especially mycophenolic acid, which greatly increases the predisposition to recurrent episodes of candidiasis; and a Toxic Chemical Check, to quantify some chemicals that favor infection and its resistance.

Treatment of Candidiasis

In our clinic, we have a specific unit to respond to chronic candidiasis. With a personalized treatment protocol and the most effective equipment and techniques such as ozone therapy, colon hydrotherapy, reimplantation of flora, immune activation, or anti-infective serum therapy, we manage to stop the disease definitively.

The treatment of Candidiasis also requires a great commitment on the part of the patient and the regulation of their lifestyle, especially with regard to food.
