On November 2, 2013, in Lisbon (Portugal), Dr. Mariano Bueno, medical director of Biosalud, participated as an international guest in a conference aimed at doctors specializing in aesthetic, anti-aging, and biological medicine, among others. He presented the full range of tests developed by Biosalud Análisis, given their innovation and scientific validity for the diagnosis of different pathologies, especially those related to infectious and immune processes.
Portuguese doctors were particularly interested in the innovation and technological level of the analyses carried out at Biosalud for the diagnosis of various ailments and diseases of different kinds.
The analyses that have attracted the most interest include genetic analyses and those related to the detection of food intolerances, candidiasis, Lyme disease, etc.
Biosalud offers a wide range of tests to discover the causes of the problems affecting patients who visit its facilities.
In the genetic analysis category, we find two possibilities. The first is ObesityGEN®, which is used to determine genetic predisposition to obesity. This test is designed to detect genetic variants associated with common obesity and allows us to determine what proportion of a person's fat accumulation can be attributed to genetic factors and how they will respond to different treatment options. On the other hand, we have FoodGEN®, which analyzes the 20 genes related to vitamin, mineral, essential fatty acid, and other nutritional needs. The report obtained explains the genetic variants, and the Nutrient Table provides a personalized diet with the optimal amounts for each individual.
To determine food intolerances, we use FoodINT®, which allows us to detect intolerances to more than 300 foods and additives. With this analysis, Biosalud has been able to develop a specific diagnostic system that eliminates false negatives and allows us to detect, with high sensitivity, those foods that, even if they cause only a slight alteration, can be detected.
Candidiasis is a disease that we also treat with the help of our analysis department. Specifically, at Biosalud we have KoproCHECK®, an analysis for quantifying intestinal flora, the existence of fungal infections (e.g., candida), bacteria, and/or intestinal parasites, as well as different parameters of digestion/absorption, inflammation, short-chain fatty acids, quantification of secretory IgA, and markers of intestinal health (occult blood, red blood cells, pH, etc.).
The fight against Lyme disease is one of Biosalud's spearhead activities. As the only reference laboratory for Lyme disease endorsed by ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society), Biosalud offers a battery of specific tests for the detection of this disease. These tests include IgG and IgM serology for Borrelia burgdorferi, ELISA and immunoblotting, Borrelia LTT elispot, and quantification of CD57 cells, serology, if applicable, for Babesia, Ehrlichia, Rickettsia, Bartonella, Yersinia, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia trachomatis, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Epstein-Barr, Coxsackie, Toxoplasma, and cytomegalovirus.
Finally, we also offer allergy check metal and allergy check fabric tests to treat skin allergies, as well as the CandiTEST, which provides a nutritional and metabolic profile.
