We are a medical centre of reference for the diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.

What is Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic degenerative neurological disease. It affects the central nervous system, brain and spinal cord.

It occurs when immune system cells, lymphocytes, attack the myelin in the nerves, causing it to fade away and, as a consequence, the nerves gradually lose their functionality.

Causes of Multiple Sclerosis

Like autoimmune diseasewe find its cause in a set of genetic and environmental factorsIt has not been determined why some people are affected and others are not.

However, there are some risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing the disease:

  • Women between 16 and 55 years old. This is the profile of a person with MS, women are two to three times more likely to have relapsing multiple sclerosis.
  • Family history. Increased risk if parents or siblings have had the disease.
  • Infections viruses
  • Lack of vitamin D
  • Smoking

Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis

The fundamental characteristic of this disease is that it can affect any area of the central nervous system and cause different symptoms, conditioning the impact and transformation of each person.

These symptoms may come and go, manifest themselves in different combinations and may be mild, moderate or severe.

Symptoms can be of various types:

  • Muscular: such as lack of balance and coordination, numbness or muscle spasms, problems walking or moving arms and legs.
  • Intestinal: such as urinary system disorders or constipation.
  • Eyepieces: such as double vision or loss of vision.
  • Neurological: such as memory loss and depression.
  • Sexual: erection problems.
  • Oral: such as slurred speech or trouble chewing. Fatigue is also a very common symptom in multiple sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

At Biosalud Day Hospital we have extensive experience and good results in the treatment of autoimmune diseases thanks to the techniques offered by biological medicine.

Once If we find that we have stopped the autoimmune process with the treatment, we will try to recover the lost functionality with regenerative treatment.

If the Multiple Sclerosis is caused by Lyme disease, it is necessary to stop the lesions and the degenerative process and recover as much as possible within the patient's response capacity. In this treatment, we would not only have to regulate the immune system but also eliminate the active infections in that person (borrelia, babesia, erlichia, chlamydia pneumonia, which produce painful pathology).
