What is Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease characterized by continuous inflammation of the soft tissues or lining of one or more joints. The inflammation progressively destroys the articular cartilage, reducing the mobility of the affected joint due to bone erosion and joint deformity.

This disease can become more severe depending on its progression, potentially leading to immobilization of the affected joint. In some cases, arthritis can spread to other joints, causing physical disability, and to other bodily systems such as the skin, eyes, heart, lungs, and blood vessels, resulting in nonspecific symptoms.
