High-tech for disease diagnosis

Digital thermograph

The digital body thermograph is a very effective system for locating evolving pathologies.

Biosalud Day Hospital is constantly updating its medical instruments in order to have the most advanced technology, such as the digital thermograph.

This system measures temperature at very specific points on the body to analyse the patient's adaptive response.

This instrument has sophisticated software that allows us to find out the causes that are actually producing the symptoms. The patient in a multitude of pathologies, including dental foci.

Digital body thermography is a non-invasive tool that uses body heat to obtain information and diagnose a range of diseases.. This is a safe, non-radioactive and side-effect-free technology used as a research method for early preclinical diagnosis and monitoring during treatment of homeostatic imbalances, i.e. situations where the organism does not exhibit a characteristic and constant physico-chemical situation in response to environmental changes.

The medical applications of thermography are wide-ranging, particularly in the fields of rheumatologyNeurology, oncology, physiotherapy and sports medicine. Thermal imaging systems are an easy-to-use, cost-effective tool to examine patients quickly and accurately.

A physician can use the imaging map to determine whether there are abnormal hot or cold areas. These hot and cold areas can refer to a number of diseases. These include screening for breast cancer, extracranial vessel disease (head and neck vessels), neuro-musculoskeletal disorders and vascular disease of the lower extremities.

The clinical uses of a digital thermograph include the following areas:

  • Define the extent of an injury for which a diagnosis has previously been made;
  • For Locate a previously unidentified abnormal area.further diagnostic tests can be performed;
  • Detecting injuries early before they become clinically evident;
  • Supervise the healing process before the patient flies to work or to training in the case of athletes.

How does thermography work?

A digital thermograph consists of two parts, the infrared camera and a computer. equipped with sophisticated software that interprets the information obtained with the camera and translates it into an image, or body temperature map.

It is a non-invasive adjuvant diagnostic technique which allows the examiner to visualise and quantify changes in the surface temperature of the skin.. The infrared scanning device is used to convert the radiation emitted from the surface of the skin into electrical pulses that are displayed in colour on a monitor.

This image obtained represents maps of body temperature and is known as a thermogram. The colour spectrum indicates an increase or decrease in the amount of infrared radiation emitted from the surface of the body. Because there is a high degree of thermal symmetry in a normal body, subtle abnormal temperature asymmetry can be easily identified.

A high-resolution monitor allows image manipulation, isothermal temperature mapping and point-by-point temperature measurement with a cursor or statistical region of interest.. This instrument is capable of measuring temperatures ranging from 10°C to 55°C to an accuracy of 0.1°C.

The computer system's ability to store images allows for statistical analysis of thermograms at a later date.which is very important in clinical work. Copies of the images can be easily emailed to doctors or other health professionals.

  1. Biotechnology provides important means of diagnosis, in order to detect the causes that are producing the signs and symptoms in a patient, but I am interested to know in which parts of the world, especially in Sub America, they already exist and what is the cost for a given diagnosis?

  2. hola soy Benjamín González de Ensenada Baja California me interesa el equipo de alta tecnología para diagnosticar enfermedades

    • Good afternoon, with this article we want to make known the technology that we use in Biosalud but we are not the company that has developed this equipment to provide technical specifications. Thank you
