Tea helps you lose weight

Thanks to the polyphenols in the tea leaf, combined with caffeine, it is possible to lose weight by increasing calorie expenditure and fat oxidation. Up to 100 calories can be burned per day if tea rich in catechins and caffeine is consumed several times a day.

Tea drinkers have a lower body mass index and a better proportionate waist-to-hip ratio - in short, less fat component.

Tea prevents some cancers

After administering 600 mg of green tea catechins or placebo to prostate cancer patients, within one year, cancer had progressed in 9 percent of the men supplemented with tea catechins, while in the placebo group it was 30 percent of the patients.

Other cancers for which tea has been shown to benefit include lung, gastrointestinal tract, breast and skin cancers.

Tea protects against cardiovascular accidents

Black tea lowers blood pressure in hypertensive people after a high-fat meal.

A few cups of tea a day reduce the incidence of cardiovascular accidents by up to 80 per cent and cardiovascular mortality by 79 per cent.

Tea helps to improve bone strength

One of the benefits of green tea is that it prevents osteoporosis. Its consumption reduces the risk of hip fractures in men and women over 50 by 30 percent.
