If you have diabetes, it is best to fast for ten to twelve hours.

Empty plates

A very important study has just been done for diabetes, and also in the field of nutrition and dietetics, which has shown that prolonged fasting for 10 to 12 hours is good for eliminating bad cholesterolLDL from fat cells, as the body looks to itself for other sources of energy to sustain itself.

US research on fasting and diabetes

This research has been carried out in the United States, at the Intermountain Medical Centre in Murray, Utah, starting from a situation of pre-diabetes, i.e. when blood glucose rises but cannot yet be called diabetes. Pre-diabetic people were examined over a longer period of time. The risk factors they had were abdominal obesity known as a "big waistline", high triglycerides and low levels of the good cholesterol, HDL. Other factors were high blood pressure and high fasting blood sugar.

The important thing about this test is that it was seen that within 6 weeks the levels of bad cholesterol started to decrease by 12 percent and the test subjects also lost weight.

All in all, it has been concluded that fasting can be a very effective method for diabetes. Why? Because fasting eliminates and helps to break down fat cells, insulin resistance can be thwarted by fasting.

As the only downside to this research, it should only be said that it is a process that develops over time and not immediately, because on the first day of fasting, bad cholesterol does not decrease, but increases.
