Autoimmune hepatitis, a disease that can progress silently

World Hepatitis Day

Through immunogenetic biomedicine, molecular hyperthermia and nutrition, Biosalud Day Hospital regulates the immune system attacked by autoimmune hepatitis.

With the slogan "Hepatitis. It's time to diagnose, treat and cure".The World Health Organisation (WHO) aims to eliminate the disease by 2030.

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver which may disappear or progress to acute. Viruses are the most common cause of its origin, but it can also be due to toxic substances such as drug or alcohol consumption or autoimmune diseases. Among hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis is becoming increasingly prevalent, especially among young women. women (70% of cases) between the ages of 15 to 40 years old. It originates when the immune system attacks liver cellswhich is inflames causing the cells of that tissue to die.

There are five different hepatitis viruses: A,B,C,D,E. Among them, B and C, according to the WHO, are the most common cause of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. These two chronic infections affect 325 million people, causing 1.34 million deaths per year. Lost cases60 % is due to late assessment and treatment.

Furthermore, according to new research from the Australian Drug and Alcohol Research Centre and the Kirby Institute in Sydney, one in three people (39%) globally who injected drugs in the past year live with Hepatitis C.  An infection that affects 2% of the population in Spain. Improving their health and access to early diagnosis are key measures to reduce transmission and its prevalence in the population.

Although it cannot be prevented, there are risk factors such as  having had a bacterial or viral infection, use of cholesterol medications or the antibiotic minocycline or astorvastatin - which have been associated with autoimmune hepatitis - or having another previous autoimmune disease. Be on the lookout for some common symptoms such as fatigue, increased transaminases and heavy digestions and digestive discomfort.

Biosalud Day Hospital's medical approach goes beyond symptoms, focuses on listening to your body, searching for the origin of the autoimmune process and through extensive testing to find out the cause of the disease. Bearing in mind that the autoimmune hepatitis can develop into cirrhosis of the liver, it is essential to know the origin as soon as possible in order to be able to treat it correctly in the early stages of chronic infection.

One of the most effective methods in biological medicine is immunogenetic biomedicine that allows us to treating diseases at their genetic origin. It has no side effects and is fully compatible with any treatment prescribed to the patient. The aim is to deactivate the genetic load that has triggered the development of the disease in order to return the patient to a healthy state. immunogenetic equilibrium state.

Once the causes have been discovered, we can design an individualised treatment and help the immune system to regulate itself and stop attacking the liver's own cells, the hepatocyte. To do this, it is advisable to modify the internal environment through  from a molecular hyperthermia treatment. This technique is based on  increase the temperature, around 40 degrees Celsius, in a specific area of the body, and thus boosting our body's defensive capabilities and improve blood flow.

Finally, given that the liver is an organ with a great capacity for self-renewal, biological medicine treatments aim to maintain the state of health achieved in order to avoid relapse. Nutritional measures such as vitamin C supplementation, deacidification and immune system regulation. will allow us to stop the process and improve and maintain a good balance of the immune system so that it can protect itself against any viral or autoimmune aggression.
