American scientists discover dna's biological clock

DNA

The journal Genome Biology has reported a discovery made by researchers at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA). It is a clock inside our genes that could be a breakthrough in the study of cancer and cancer treatments. stem cells.

The research, led by Steve Horvath, Professor of Human Genetics at the UCLA School of Medicine and Professor of Biostatistics at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, is a breakthrough since no genetically related clock had been discovered until now.

"To fight ageing, there is an objective way to measure it in the first place. Locating the set of biomarkers that keep time throughout the body has been a four-year challenge," Horvarth said of his finding.

A very complex investigation

The process was complicated. Horvarth's team had to analyse 8,000 samples of 51 types of tissue from all over the human body to discover that some parts age differently from others. In particular, the experiments certified that breast tissue ages faster.

For Horvarth, his discovery has shown that "healthy breast tissue is two to three years older than the rest of a woman's body. If a woman has breast cancer, the healthy tissue near the tumour is on average 12 years older than the rest of her body".

The rhythm of this clock has also been studied by UCLA researchers. Horvarth explains the conclusions. "The ticking of the clock is not constant. It is much faster when we are born and during the growth of children to adolescents and then slows down to a steady pace by the time we reach our 20s," he says.

Anti aging in Biosalud

Biosalud has a unit for treating ageing with different techniques that help us to calibrate the care that each person who comes to us needs. We must discover whether the patient's ageing is physiological or pathological in order to see whether they need preventive or curative treatment.

Tests such as an analysis of free radicals, an analysis of antioxidant potential, tumour markers, bioaging or a study of the state of the skin help us to discover the treatment that each person needs, as we make it personalised in order to improve the results.

Once we have all the results we have different treatments depending on the needs of each organism. Ozone therapy, serum therapy, osteopathy or phytotherapy are some of the techniques that will help us to prevent or treat the ageing of the patient's body.
