Recurrent or recurrent candidiasis

Vulvovaginal candidiasis is the most common vaginal infection in women.

Every woman, at some point in her life, will experience an episode of itching, burning in the vulva and/or vagina, accompanied by a whitish, yellowish or apple-green vaginal discharge, which does not have a bad smell, but which even causes pain during sexual intercourse.

It must be distinguished from infections caused by other germs, which will manifest themselves differently.

The problem arises when this infection persists or recurs, as it becomes resistant to the usual treatments (vaginal and oral antifungal agents) and this is when we must study these patients in particular, from their eating habits, hygiene, the state of their vaginal and intestinal microbiota, etc. in order to find out the cause or causes or factors that lead to the persistence of the infection.

At Biosalud we have specific diagnostic tests to find the causes of these recurrences, as well as innovative treatments, such as FOTONA vaginal laser and ozone therapy for this group of patients, among others.

If the vaginal infection is recurrent, an intestinal, nutritional and immunological study is very necessary.
