The Portuguese doctors were especially interested in the innovation and technological level of the analyses carried out at Biosalud for the diagnosis of various ailments and diseases of various kinds.
The analyses that aroused most interest were, among others, genetic analyses, those relating to the detection of food intolerances and candidiasis, Lyme diseaseetc.
Multitude of analyses to find all kinds of causes
Biosalud has a wide range of analyses to discover the causes of the problems of the patients who come to its facilities.
In the category of genetic analysis, there are two possibilities. The first is ObesityGEN®, which is used to determine the genetic tendency to obesity. This test is designed to detect genetic variants associated with common obesity and allows us to know what proportion of a person's fat accumulation can be attributed to genetic factors and what their response to different treatment options will be. On the other hand, we have FoodGEN® which analyses the 20 genes related to the needs of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, etc. The report obtained explains the genetic variants and the Nutrient Table facilitates a personalised diet with the optimal amounts for each individual.
Much more than genetics
To determine food intolerances, we have the FoodINT®, which allows the detection of intolerances to more than 300 foods and additives. With this analysis, Biosalud has been able to develop a specific diagnostic system that eliminates false negatives and allows, with a high sensitivity, to detect those foods that, although they produce a slight alteration, it is possible to detect them.
Candidiasis is a disease that we also treat with the help of our analysis department. Specifically, at Biosalud we have the KoproCHECK®., analyses for quantification of the intestinal flora, the existence of fungal infections (e.g. Candida), bacteria and/or intestinal parasites, as well as different parameters of digestion/absorption, inflammation, short-chain fatty acids, quantification of secretory IgA, markers of intestinal health (occult blood, red blood cells, pH...).
The fight against lyme disease is one of the spearheads of Biosalud's activity. Therefore, Biosalud as the only reference laboratory in Lyme endorsed by the ILADS (International Lype and Associated Diseaases Society) proposes a battery of specific tests for the detection of this disease. These tests include IgG and IgM serology against Borrelia burgdorferi, ELISA and immunoblott, elispot LTT of borrelia and quantification of CD57 cells, serology, if applicable, against babesia, ehrlichia, ricketsia, bartonella, yersinia, mycoplasma, chlamydia trachomatis, chlamydia pneumoniae, epstein barr, coxackie, toxoplasma and cytomegalovirus.
