Gout has been on the rise in recent years

Gout on one foot

Gout disease has increased by 50% in the last 20 years in developed countries. according to a study conducted by the Spanish Society of Rheumatology (SER) analysing cases in the USA and the UK.

In Spain, gout has an incidence of between 1 and 2% of the population, although in people over 70 years of age this percentage rises to 5%. It is a fact that 85% of gout sufferers are men, making it the main cause of arthritis in adults.

To try to curb this increase, SER and Menarini España, taking advantage of Gout Awareness year, have created the campaign Don't give gout a chance!

Gout can be cured

Gout is caused by a high amount of uric acid in the blood, which causes salt deposits to remain in the joints and cause severe pain. In most cases it starts in the big toe. It is the most common type of arthritis. Patients with obesity, diabetes, hypertension, poor kidney function or those taking medication are more likely to suffer from gout..

For Fernando Pérez Ruiz, spokesman for the Spanish Society of Rheumatology, gout can be cured with early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

At Biosalud, we have been doing the following for 30 years treatments to cure rheumatic diseases.
