Health authorises Bevacizumab for adjuvant treatment of ovarian cancer

Complementary treatment for ovarian cancer

Combination of Bevacizumab with first-line chemotherapy, and subsequent single use of Bevacizumab, increases survival in patients with advanced ovarian cancerversus the use of chemotherapy alone.

Bevacizumabab approved for ovarian cancer

Biosalud also has a complementary cancer treatment in order to treat any cancerous disease according to the techniques of biological medicine

Biological therapy for advanced ovarian cancer

The biologic drug in question - Bevacizumab, brand name Avastin from Roche - works by slowing down the vascularisation of tumour tissue.

Using this anti-angiogenic drug, which has already been approved in other types of cancer, such as lung, colorectal, kidney or breast cancer, and chemotherapy in the first line, and then keeping Bevacizumab alone, increases the progression-free survival of patients with advanced ovarian cancer, compared to the use of chemotherapy alone.

These findings come from two phase III clinical trials conducted in the US and Europe. In December 2011 this treatment was authorised in Europe; in Spain, the Ministry of Health is now approving it 3 years later.

The patients most likely to benefit from Bevacizumab are those who have had no previous treatment and with more advanced stage III or IV disease who have not undergone appropriate surgery.

In Spain, around 3,000 new cases of ovarian cancer are diagnosed each year. In 75% of cases, it is detected when the disease is already at an advanced stage, given the lack of an efficient screening system

Complementary cancer treatment

In the complementary cancer treatment unit of our clinic we treat any cancerous disease according to the techniques of biological medicine, enhancing the effects of conventional medicine and without side effects or contraindications. It is a matter of adding beneficial effects, not subtracting them.

We look for the causes and factors of the cancerous state, carrying out a battery of tests, depending on what the patient tells us in an exhaustive medical history.

Using the techniques of biological medicine, we apply a nutritional, immunogenetic, immunoactivating, oxygenating and psycho-emotional treatment (oncological coaching).
