Ibuprofen and diclofenac affect the heart

Ibuprofen

A study published in the Lancet has found that daily consumption of large doses of ibuprofen and diclofenac can slightly increase the risk of heart disease. risk of heart problems. The effects are accentuated in smokers and overweight people.

Ibuprofen and diclofenac affect the heart

This is not the first time this topic has been studied, but what is new this time is the large number of cases analysed. Specifically, researchers at Oxford University studied 353,000 case histories. The results were revealing. Out of every 1,000 cases, there are 11 heart attacks among people taking ibuprofen and diclofenac compared to eight among those who do not.

In the past, contraindications have already been demonstrated in some drugs and they have been withdrawn from the market. In 2004 rofecoxib was voluntarily withdrawn from the market by its manufacturers. Those who take rofecoxib high doses of painkillers are also more likely to increase their heart problems.

Genetics as prevention

Genetics is very important in the treatments we carry out at Biosalud. We consider that each patient is a specific case by virtue of their DNA, which is why we carry out personalised treatments according to the tests carried out on each patient.

Specifically, to treat the patient's nutrition, the first thing we do is a food intolerance test to find out which foods cannot be included in their diet. To accompany this, we carry out a biochemical analysis to rule out endocrine problems and an ACC body composition analysis.

We also conducted a analysis called Foodgen whereby the patient is told which foods they should eat according to their genetics as well as how often they should eat other foods and which foods they should not eat.

The Biosalud website also allows you to calculate your body mass index, a figure that will indicate whether the patient is overweight or obese.
